There are many ways to create a website, and many themes you can use, but one of my personal favorites is to use imagery as a background. This style is very modern, and has been used amongst top professionals in the web design world, and continues to grow more and more popular. Learning how best to apply it is worth your time as a web designer or as a web developer.
Getting and using the best cool backgrounds does not have to be hard. The simplest way to use an image as a background is by hooking it up with simple handy CSS tabs, such as background-image, background-image-position, background-repeat, and others. Applying the use of the background and controlling them in CSS, HTML, and XHTML is not something that we will talk on here. That is for you to learn elsewhere. This is simply a list of ideas for you to learn from and for you to have in mind when creating web sites.
The principal use of cool backgrounds for web design is using it as a pattern in the background. This is commonly done with stripes, dots, and patterns of all natures and can look quite good, but
this still leaves us in the common and unoriginal field. What is a real shocker to people is when they go to a site and the site is created (as an example) over and image or even uses the image as buttons etc. This is done via CSS, Javascript, or even ActionScript in a Flash format. It can be uncomplicated and can be a breath of fresh air from the thousands of samey sites that there are online.
The real trick is finding a cool background that can work, whether it is going with a pattern or a larger image for your personal web designing. Choosing the right one involves taking a close look at several key features of your site. Firstly, what is the theme of your site? How would this theme affect the needed content in content, coloring and style? How would this picture look in the position you would use it in? What does the color mean for this site and what is the color message of this photo or pattern? What percentage of this do I want each browser to see on their screen? Putting these simple questions to yourself before adding a photo to your design is a wise move and will help you to avoid trouble and further problems.
Where can you find photos that work for your particular design? Looking on Google for keywords is one method. Searching free desktop background sites is another. You can also opt to buy stock photography from any number of sites, and this is a sure way to get exactly what you need for the site. Another means still is subscribing to design feeds and photography site feeds.
Looking hard and well is the only way to ensure that you get the quality cool backgrounds that you want for your site. The effort will pay off when your site is a success and benefits you tremendously.
